Statements of Faith

WE ARE

Unaffiliated, Historic Baptist, Evangelistic, KJV

WE BELIEVE

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself (Authorized 1611 King James Version) is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

Preamble -- We, being born again and Bible-believing Baptists, relying entirely on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, on the Holy Spirit's enabling, and the Holy Scriptures for our guidance; and in the interests of growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ; and that we might fulfill our responsibilities to propagate the Word of God; and to contend earnestly for the faith; so that all things may be done decently and in order in accordance with the accepted tenets of other churches of like precious faith, and that we may more readily help each other in our Christian service and declare these statements to which we voluntarily submit ourselves.

Position -- We declare ourselves to be old-fashioned, New Testament Baptists and oppose Interdenominationalism, New Evangelicalism, and the modern Charismatic movement. We stand for the “faith once delivered unto the saints.” We declare ourselves to be an unaffiliated, autonomous Baptist Church. We will preach and teach the “whole counsel” of God's Word with definite intent on winning lost souls to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We will baptize those who receive Christ as personal Saviour. We will then teach them to “observe all things whatsoever” the Lord has commanded us; and when the Holy Spirit calls, we will separate and send others forth into the world to proclaim the same Gospel and carry out the same great commission work in its entirety with the anticipated goal of establishing additional New Testament Baptist Churches.

Scriptures -- We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the perfect and final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and Divine revelation of God to man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. We believe that The King James Version (Authorized Version 1611) of the Bible is the accurately preserved, authoritative and true Word of God in the English language, and shall be the official and only translation used by the Church. We disavow all other English versions and translations of the Bible as corruptions.

Salvation -- We have a gospel message included with this web site that fully explains the Way to Salvation.

Creation -- We believe that God created the entire universe in six literal 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin.

Theology -- We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived by God as a human born of the virgin Mary, in a manner as none other can be, as The Lamb of God to accomplish our redemption through his death on the cross in a substitutionary sacrifice and physical resurrection from the dead. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ bodily ascended to Heaven and that there will be a personal, imminent return of Christ in a pretribulational and premillennial Rapture. At the end of the Tribulation Christ will personally establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, indwelling and sealing those who receive Jesus Christ as Saviour. We do not believe in “Holy Spirit baptism,” or being baptized into anything but the local New Testament Baptist Church by water. We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary and lasted only until the completion of the written New Testament. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of salvation or the filling of the Holy Spirit, and that the ultimate deliverance of the physical body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer prayers of His Saints for physical healing.

The Eternal State -- We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people, the spiritually regenerated to eternal life, and the unregenerate to judgment and everlasting punishment in the Lake of Fire.

The Church -- We believe that the Church, which is the Body of Christ, is fulfilled only as a local Assembly. We do not believe in the “universal, invisible church” theory. We also believe that this local church is the espoused bride of Christ, is Baptist by doctrine, and is solely made up of born again and Scripturally baptized [see "Ordinances"] people. We believe in the perpetuity of the church, meaning that the establishment and continuance of God's Baptist churches, is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures, beginning with the Church Jesus built during his earthly ministry. We believe in the autonomy of the local church free from any external authority or control.

Ordinances -- We recognize water baptism and the Lord's Supper as the only ordinances of obedience for the Church in this age. Baptism is scriptural when administered to a regenerate soul by total immersion under the authority of a New Testament church. Baptism was brought to the New Testament Church by John the Baptist (as one sent from God) and is a Scriptural ordinance. We recognize the Lord's Supper (a memorial supper only) as the other Scriptural ordinance. It is to be administered to only members in good standing of the administering Baptist Church. We also believe it should be held once a year after the example of the Passover Supper.

Missions -- We believe that God has given His New Testament Baptist Churches the Great Commission of proclaiming the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ with the anticipated result being New Testament churches started worldwide. As ambassadors of Christ we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. We believe that all missionary endeavors should be carried on under the authority of the local Church; that it is the privilege and right of the separate New Testament Baptist Churches to cooperate with each other in carrying out the great commission, but in such a manner as to preserve the sovereignty of each Church. [See EBT Missions]

Education -- We believe it is essential to the Biblical beliefs of the Church to provide an education program which is based on, and consistent with, Biblical teachings in both content and structure. It is this Church's belief that the home and Church together are responsible before God for providing a Christian education to its members. To this end, the Church shall engage in ministries of education in keeping with this belief. [See EB Academy and Great Plains Baptist Divinity School]

Issues of Living -- We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord; and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded of God.

Human Sexuality -- We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex.

Divorce and Remarriage -- We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorced and remarried persons may hold positions of service in the Church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, yet they may not be considered for the offices of Pastor, Missionary, or Deacon. While we do believe that divorce and remarriage is a very serious error which has certain lifelong penalties, we do not believe it is an unpardonable sin.

Abortion -- We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being.
