Our Statements of Faith

PREAMBLE
We, being born again and Bible-believing Baptists, relying entirely on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, on the Holy Spirit's enabling, and the Holy Scriptures for our guidance; and in the interests of growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ; and that we might fulfill our responsibilities to propagate the Word of God; and to contend earnestly for the faith so that all things may be done decently and in order in accordance with the accepted tenets of other churches of like precious faith; and that we may more readily help each other in our Christian service, declare these statements to which we voluntarily submit ourselves.

MISSION
We declare ourselves to be old-fashioned, New Testament Baptists and oppose Interdenominational trends, Neo-Evangelicalism, and modern Spiritualist movements. We stand for the "faith once delivered unto the saints." We declare ourselves to be an unaffiliated, autonomous Baptist church. We will preach and teach the "whole counsel" of God's Word with definite intent on winning lost souls to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We baptize those who receive Christ under the authority and into the membership of our church. We will then teach them to "observe all things whatsoever" the Lord has commanded us. When the Holy Spirit calls, we will separate and send our members forth into the world to proclaim the same Gospel and carry out the same great commission work in its entirety with the anticipated goal of establishing additional New Testament Baptist Churches.

WE BELIEVE
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith – the entire Bible is the summation and foundation of all that we believe. In brief: EBT is an Unaffiliated, Historic Baptist, Evangelistic church which boldly proclaims the King James Bible as God's perfectly inspired and preserved word. Our church holds to old-fashioned conservative values that are undergirded by an unwavering regiment of Scripture-based preaching.

  • KJV FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE:
We hold to the verbal-plenary inspiration of the Scriptures. They are infallible, inerrant, and preserved for the English-speaking world in the Authorized Version, commonly called the King James Version.
  • CREATION IS LITERAL:
We believe the Genesis account that God created from nothing the entirety of His creation in 6 literal 24 hour days. We hold there is no time-gap between Genesis 1:1 & 2.
  • JESUS CHRIST IS GOD:
Christ is God the Son. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a literal death for our sin and rose bodily from the grave on the 3rd day (Wednesday evening to Saturday evening). We hold He was very God incarnate in a human body.
  • DEPRAVITY OF MAN:
Total, hereditary depravity of all mankind requires the Blood of Christ to cleanse from sin. Truly there is none good — no not one – yet all souls are capable of obeying the command to repent and put their faith in Christ for Salvation.
  • REPENTANCE & FAITH FOR SALVATION:
Salvation is wholly of the Lord and offered to all mankind to be freely received on the basis of Biblical repentance toward sin and faith in the Lord Christ's saving power of the Gospel. We preach the Gospel — the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ including His shed Blood on the cross for the sins of mankind. We hold that each individual has soul liberty.
  • CHURCH ESTABLISHED BY CHRIST:
The first church was established by Christ during his earthly ministry. The first 12 Apostles were baptized by John the Baptist, called out by Christ (Luke 6:12-16), and personally trained as the first church planters to the world. True churches have always been local and visible and are independently identified as the body and bride of Christ (Ephesians 4 & 5).
  • CHURCH HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED:
After the resurrection of Christ, the Holy Spirit was given to that first church (John 20:21,22). Then on Pentecost (Acts 2) that church (and hence all following churches) became introduced to the world as the House of God for this age by the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
  • CHURCH IS BAPTIST BY DOCTRINE & NAME:
Christ's churches today are Baptist by doctrine and practice. Though that faith was at times called differently (example: Anabaptist), it is called Baptist in this present day.
  • TWO OFFICES IN CHURCH:
    • PASTOR — the overseer and shepherd of the church
    • DEACONS — servants of the church operating under the Pastor
  • TWO ORDINANCES:
    • BAPTISM — We hold the authority to baptize is divinely granted to each true church – not unto individuals nor institutions not constituting a church.  Believers are immersed under the authority and into the membership of the administering church. We receive Baptism only from churches of like faith and practice.
    • LORD'S SUPPER CLOSED — We practice a restricted Lord's Table wherein all members in good standing within our church are to unite and participate in this as an annual ordinance.
  • MISSIONS ENTRUSTED TO LOCAL CHURCH:
The Great Commission was given solely to the Lord's churches (Matthew 28:16-20). Missionaries are to be sent out under the full authority and responsibility of their sending church while allowing for financial cooperation between churches of like faith and practice to assist, but not interfere, with the mission of a local church. No affiliations with mission boards or clearing houses are needed or supported.
  • SEPARATE LIFESTYLE:
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord. We hold that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God.
  • SEXUALITY DEFINED BY GOD:
We believe that God created 2 genders —male and female — and has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography is sinful.
  • MARRIAGE FOR LIFE:
We believe that God intends marriage to be for life — separated only by death. While we believe that divorce and remarriage is a very serious error which carries certain lifelong consequences, we do not believe it is an unpardonable sin. Divorced and remarried members may hold positions of service in our church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, yet they may not be considered for pulpit leadership, including the office of Pastor and Deacon.
  • SANCTITY OF LIFE:
    • ABORTION — We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. We believe that to knowingly eliminate such innocent life is murder.
    • SUICIDE — We hold that God never intends for a person to knowingly end their own life. We believe that any attempt to take one's own life is murder.
    • SENICIDE — We believe that the elderly are to be cherished and honored. We hold that any lethal dispatch of the elderly is murder.
